ILLNESS IS A METAPHOR
It's not what we lose, but what we gain. Illnesses, like other adversities, evoke losses, taking away something we held dear. And yet somewhere in the coping and handling of the ensuing crises we come out with more. This more, however small or whatever its nature, becomes our opportunity for spiritual growth just as that growth usually revolves around an underlying spiritual purpose.
Looking at illness through the lens of a spiritual purpose invites us to see it as a metaphor, a coded message, and the inevitable accompanying pains as creating the opportunity for our inner divine self to assert itself. As pain becomes the spur impelling us to outgrow it, the plus side can then emerge.
While the process occurs on its own as it has for many, Lance Armstrong or Michael J. Fox, for example, for many others it benefits from having some understanding of its nature. Certainly it is predicated on using the soul, and the more we can rely on that inner part of ourselves to extract the meaning and or purpose of our illness or adversity, the easier it will be for us to also experience the plus side.
Ascertaining the purpose of having a major illness or the reason for undergoing adversity with a modicum of accuracy and without wishful thinking or even illusions, can be done through the use of certain techniques based on meditation and visualization.
The techniques are part of a book to be published in the near future. They are also part of a presentation given to groups and organizations. For further information, contact us.
